What an audit looks like

Sample Audit Report

SAMPLE — FOR ILLUSTRATION ONLY. This property has not yet been audited. Real Haven audits follow this exact format.

Villa Zafarraya

A single-level, accessible, self-catered villa in the Zafarraya region of Spain, for private individual use.

  • Quiet Zones

    5/5
    • Villa Zafarraya is situated in a low-traffic area, providing a peaceful environment.
    • The property includes designated quiet areas both indoors and outdoors, ideal for relaxation and downtime.
  • Low-Stimulation Design

    4/5
    • The villa features a neutral color palette and minimalistic decor, reducing visual distractions.
    • Some areas could benefit from additional soft furnishings to dampen sound and enhance comfort.
  • Predictable Routines

    3/5
    • Clear, consistent daily schedules are recommended to enhance predictability.
    • Some activities and services require prior booking, which can be structured more clearly.
  • Trained Support

    3/5
    • The villa is self-served for private individual use, with no on-site staff; the owner has done extensive research into wheelchair-user accessibility.
    • Further neurodiversity-specific training would still strengthen SEND support.
  • Food Transparency

    4/5
    • The villa is self-catered: guests purchase their own ingredients and prepare their own meals, so every ingredient is known and predictable.
    • Families have full control over allergens and sensory preferences — the trade-off being they take on all sourcing and cooking themselves rather than a caterer handling it.
  • Layout Predictability

    5/5
    • The villa's floor plan is easy to navigate with clear signage, and it can be shared with guests in advance.
    • Sharing the floor plan ahead of arrival lets families familiarise themselves with the space before they travel, removing uncertainty.

Why Haven exists

Our Founder

Who's behind Haven, and why it exists.

Hana Yousif, CEO & Founder of Haven

Hana Yousif

CEO & Founder

Hana is a mother of three, including two SEND children. She experienced firsthand how hard it is to travel with neurodivergent children — the gaps, stress, and uncertainty no existing service solved.

That lived experience is the driving force behind Haven, giving her deep, authentic insight into exactly what families need.

Why the standard exists

For neurodivergent families, booking a holiday is a risk assessment built on scattered reviews and accessibility tags nobody has checked. The Haven Standard replaces that gamble with a verified promise.

FAQ

Questions SEND Families Actually Ask

Honest answers from parents who get it.

Can we see the floor plan or room layout before we book?

Yes. Every stay comes with a full video walkthrough and annotated floor plan sent 3–4 weeks before arrival. This is part of our Layout Predictability criterion — no surprises, no 'similar unit' substitutions.

What happens if my child has a meltdown at the accommodation?

Every Haven-vetted stay has designated quiet zones — calm, private spaces away from noise and other guests. Staff are trained in sensory needs and will never intervene unless you ask. You know your child best; we make sure the environment supports you, not judges you.

Are meal times and menus flexible?

Completely. Our Food Transparency criterion means menus with photos and ingredient lists are shared before booking. Most stays offer pre-arrival grocery stocking to your exact list, and several can deliver the same meal at the same time daily if routine matters to your child. No compulsory dining times, no shared tables unless you choose them.

What training do the staff actually have?

It varies by stay — some owners are former SEN specialists or occupational therapists, others are parents of neurodivergent children themselves. In every case, we verify that staff have completed relevant sensory-awareness training and understand that the best support is often no intervention at all. We brief every family on exactly who will be present and what to expect.

How do you choose which stays to audit?

We look for small, privately-let properties with owners who genuinely want to host neurodivergent families — not large resorts with rotating staff. Every stay must pass all 6 points of The Haven Standard: Quiet Zones, Low-Stimulation, Predictable Routines, Trained Staff, Food Transparency, and Layout Predictability. We reject far more than we accept.

What if we arrive and the environment isn't right?

We'll find an alternative. Every stay in our pilot collection has been personally audited by our team, and we stand behind every recommendation. If the reality doesn't match what we promised, we work with you to make it right — whether that means adjusting the stay or moving you to another property.

Do we share facilities with other families?

No. Every Haven-vetted stay is privately let to one family at a time. No shared pools, no communal dining, no unexpected strangers. You have full control over who your family interacts with — and when.
